The Nimble Bruiser

Take on the biggest terrain without the penalty, long travel doesn't have to mean single purpose.

The Spire blends DH bike capability with mid-travel efficiency in such a way it's almost two bikes in one. A delicately tuned pedalling and pumping platform, super supple beginning stroke sensitivity and all the travel you could ask for makes for a mind bending ride. Happily climb up to your favourite challenging descent, then cruise on over to your local flow trail and you'll be rewarded on both ends of the spectrum. Don't be fooled though, while it's no one-trick pony, the spire lives to push your limits. Get in-spired.

Frame Features

  1. Lifetime warranty
Transition bikes take pride in the quality of their products and are stoked to offer a lifetime warranty for the original owner and their stellar crash replacement program. "We got your back so you don't have to worry about your bike."
  2. Pivot technology
Collet main pivot technology improves rear end stiffness and keeps your pivot hardware tight. Additional bearing shield prevent main pivot bearing contamination when washing your bike or riding in wet conditions.
  3. Frame protection
We keep your bike rides quiet and your frame safe from damage with full integrated, flush-mounted rubber frame protection at all critical areas. In addition to downtube and saeatstay protection the ribbed chainstay protector features expanded coverage of the rear dropout pivot area.
  4. Geo adjust chip
Change the attitude of the bike with a simple flip of a chip. Our high and low settings give you two very usable geo settings to suit your riding style. Our high setting is comparable to most other company's low setting so there's a high shred warning in effect!
  5. Size specific chainstays
The Spire has two size specific chainstay lengths to provide balanced handling and rider weight distribution across the range of sizes.
  6. Enduro max bearings
Transition exclusively use enduro max suspension pivot specific bearings in standard sizes that are readily available worldwide. Dual bearings are used at the dropout pivots for frame stiffness and additional c-clips lock the rocker bearings in place under torsional loads.
  7. Gear accessory mount
The underside top-tube accessory mount allows you to carry a spare tube or other goodies safely on your frame in case you are looking to ditch the backpack.
  8. Dual crown fork compatible
Both the carbon and alloy frame options are fully dual crown compatible for those wanting to dip their toes into the DH world.
  9. Tyre clearance
Ample clearance for mud and tyres up to 2.6" width.
  10. Use friendly cable routing
To simplify maintenance and keep your bike noise free, the rear derailleur cable is routed through guide tubes in the front triangle and chainstay.
  11. Press in headset
The zs56/zs56 press in headset gives you the freedom to use reach adjust and angle adjust headsets for maximum adjustability.
  12. Water bottle compatibility
Keep your water bottle clean inside the front triangle so you can keep hydrated without worrying about mud making to to your mouth.
  13. Universal derailleur hanger
The Spire features a SRAM universal derailleur hanger that protects your derailleur against chain jams by pivoting back and out of the way and slips slightly when encountering impacts. It improves shifting performance, guarantees better alignment, works with all drivetrains and is available anywhere.

Speed balanced geometry

SBG ensures the bike maintains low speed agility, front wheel traction, and proper rider weight balance while actually increasing confidence in steep terrain and at high speeds. With sbg, a slacker head tube angle is combined with a all new reduced offset fork standard, preventing the front wheel from being too far in front of the rider. This improves front to rear weight distribution on the bike, which is often out of balance on long and slack bikes. One of sbg's greatest benefits is that it creates a confident steering feel that adapts to wheel speed. More stability when going fast, more agility on technical slow speed manoeuvring as well as improved traction, control and confidence for any skill level of rider.

GiddyUp suspension design

Transition want to make it as easy as possible to experience great rear suspension performance. The Giddyup suspension system is designed to behave intuitively across a broad range of setup. Because, we get it, sometimes you just want to grab your bike and Giddyup, without checking your setup. When you do, it will always feel good.

With nearly 23% progression and the most current evolution of our giddyup suspension kinematic, the Spire has an excellent balance of support and small bump sensitivity. Anti-squat is tuned to enhance pedalling performance and provides a platform to push against when pumping, without sacrificing a bottomless feel when needed.

The Giddyup suspension layout is tuned to work correctly with both air and coil rear shocks. Riders are able to add or remove volume spacers in the rear air shock to suit their individual riding style and there is plenty of bottom out control with air or coil shocks when things get rowdy. The Spire has 170mm of rear wheel travel when used with the supplied 205mm x 65mm stroke shock. It is also possible to install a shorter, 205mm x 60mm stroke shock to decrease the rear wheel travel to 160mm if you are after a shorter travel experience.

A suggested sag range of 27 - 33% allows the rider to tune the feel of the bike; from a firm and snappy jump and slash mode, to a more supple and active full on party mode. Wherever you end up, you can focus on the trail without remotes, levers or knobs. Just grab your bike and giddyup.

With the huge variety of trail styles, riding styles and bike setup preferences, we would urge you to not just pick a size because you have always ridden that size but factor in how your weight will be balanced and distributed on the bike. We want you to have as much fun as possible riding your bike. Remember, there is no right or wrong size for you (within reason of course), pick the size that feels the most comfortable and confidence inspiring for your riding style.

We highly recommend using the "Reach" measurement as the starting point for picking a size. The reach measurement will tell you how roomy the bike will feel and how balanced you will be when you are in an attack position standing on the pedals. Reach is now a standard that the mountain bike industry uses so you can use it to compare other bikes.

In order to reflect those choices, we have updated our sizing chart with a lot more overlap across the size range so you can feel free to experiment with different sizes if you are in-between sizes. We have tried to illustrate the bike sizes we felt would apply to each rider size; but be sure to look at the geometry and make sure the size you are choosing makes sense for your preferences. Everyone is different, plain and simple. The lines have become blurred and there is no strict rule of thumb anymore. When choosing your perfect size, ask yourself these questions, call or email us if you need a second opinion and most importantly... make sure you pick the setup that you feel will be the most fun!
